Postgraduate Studies: Issues of Older Age Postgraduates

They say that it is never too late to study. Still, it is more suitable not to shelve one’s education and choose a postgraduate course after obtaining an undergraduate diploma or degree. The truth is that choosing to continue the learning, mature age postgraduates might face different difficulties. It does not mean that older people should avoid choosing post graduate courses. They just need to be aware of troubles they will have to meet at the teaching-learning procedure.
Discriminative behavior
Usually, educators do not have great expectations of mature age learners because of their senior years. It’s been proved younger people have much better abilities and memory. Also motivation of mature age postgraduates is better than that of younger learners. A mature age student’s decision to take a postgraduate course is a mindful decision of a grown up person. Teachers need to get rid of certain myths with regards to the abilities of mature age learners. (more…)
